Green Bright Eyes
A highway. Cars don’t go this way very often, and it has only oak forest by it two sides, it always smells like burned rubber and trees. Elim prefers this path to go to school because is not as crowded as others. Some kilometers awsay from this highway there is a non legal nuclear stage, hidden in the deeps of the forest, and sometimes strange things have happened.
Hallowing day. A boring hallowing to say the true.
Elim, a shy, black haired girl with blue pale eyes, she doesn’t have many friend because of her shyness though she is very frienly when you know her.
She was walking on the highway side, early in the morning as usual , in her way to school. Suddenly she heard a howl in the forest by her side. It continued for a lon while so she decided to investigate. The forest looked wonderful that morning, the light passed through the oak leaves and gave the forest a magic detail.
The sound seemed to come from a hurt dog that was lying in the ground. Elim moved carefully towards him, yes, it was a hurt animal, but not a dog, a wolf. She kneeled by his side, it hardly breathed but it didn’t seem to have grounds, the only strange thing of it was its fur. Bright red fur, and it seemed to get brighter and brighter. The wolf howled again, with pain. Elim finally dared to touch it. The animal jumped when he felt the contact, and, with a growl, it bites her hand. Shouting she pushed her bloody hand against her chest and the wolf ran away in the deep.
She decided to go to school anyway, there they would heal her hand, that was hurting more than a normal bite, and it was nearer then home.
Her hand didn’t stop bleeding and when she arrived to school she was covered in blood.
The school nurse did a good work and she received some clean clothes.
At midday, in the school casino, noticed her changes. They said that her normally pale blue eyes were now bright green and her opaque hair was now shiny and darker. Elim got angry, they hadn’t told her anything mean, but she wasn’t reasoning. Slowly she felt heavier and her voice began to become growls and barks.
Everybody looked at her with fear. She looked down to her hands to realize with horror that they were now paws. She didn’t need more, she ran, and everything got worse. They called the dogcatcher and they carried her to a kennel.
The kennel was cold, dark, and smelled like dry blood melted with dirty dogs.
Some days passed. She was still a dog and even her parents didn’t remember her. Her hand, now a paw, looked really bad and hurt more every day.
She looked at her paw.
“I wish, above all, I could go back to that day in school I realized I was a dog…”
Suddenly a bright light appeared, too bright to look at, so Eim closed her eyes. Then the light went off. She felt sick and opened her eyes. There was a smell of food, and kids were talking and shouting.
She was in the school casino again.
She was lying on the floor and everybody was looking at her.
Her hands were hands now, not paws. Everything had been a nightmare. She had lost so many blood with the bite, that she had passed out.
But her eyes where still bright green…
